Elopement packages and pricing

An elopement doesn't need a venue hire, a florist or a caterer. It needs a celebrant, two witnesses and the paperwork done properly. That's what every package includes. Choose by how much time you'd like and how many people you're bringing.

Which package is right for you

01

Just the two of you

The 15-minute Elopement package. Two witnesses, the legal wording, a few photos, and you're married. Most couples who elope choose this one.

02

A few of the people closest to you

The 30-minute Micro wedding package gives you room for your own vows and some relaxed photos with up to 16 guests.

03

A small wedding, done properly

The 60-minute Intimate wedding package, for up to 32 guests, includes your story, your vows and your choice of music. It feels like a wedding, just a shorter one.

Our ceremony space

The Ivory Room is inside St Kilda Road Towers, opposite Albert Park Lake. It's calm, modern and full of natural light, with views across the lake to Port Phillip Bay. It's designed for small ceremonies, so it feels intimate with two people in it and still comfortable with 32.

Silk bouquets from our flower wall are there for you to use in your photos, at no cost. There are plenty of photo spots around the building afterwards. Have a look at the Ivory Room gallery, or book a time to come and see it.

How to elope in Melbourne

  1. Choose your date. We're open seven days a week, with ceremonies as late as 6pm. Short notice is often fine.
  2. Complete the Notice of Intended Marriage. We send you the form, you fill it in online, and we witness it in a short video appointment. It must be lodged at least one month before the ceremony.
  3. Decide where. Our chapel, or a location of your own.
  4. On the day, bring photo ID and your two witnesses, or let us know you'd like us to provide them.
  5. Enjoy it. We handle the paperwork afterwards and register your marriage with Births, Deaths and Marriages Victoria.

Need to get married in under a month? If you meet the legal criteria, we can apply for a shortening of time. Read about getting married quickly.

Witnesses

You need two witnesses over 18 at every wedding in Australia. If you're eloping without anyone else there, our professional witnesses are $50 each on weekdays and $75 on weekends. They sign the paperwork, stay out of the way if that's what you want, or share the moment if you'd prefer. Read more about witnesses.

Make it yours

Wear what you like. We've married couples in wedding dresses and suits, in jeans, and in what they'd wear to a nice dinner. If you'd like to write your own vows, the Micro and Intimate packages give you the time for it. If you'd like music and your story told, choose the Intimate wedding package.

We embrace love in all forms. Mr and Mrs, Mr and Mr, Mrs and Mrs, them or they, or any combination that describes the two of you.

Questions couples ask about eloping

How much does it cost to elope in Melbourne?
Our Elopement package is $295 Monday to Thursday, $395 on Friday and $595 on weekends. It includes the celebrant, our ceremony space, all legal paperwork and the booking fee. Professional witnesses are $50 each on weekdays and $75 on weekends if you need them.
Can we elope with no guests at all?
Yes. You still need two witnesses by law, and we can provide them for $50 each on weekdays and $75 on weekends. Plenty of couples marry with just the celebrant and our two witnesses in the room.
Do we need witnesses to elope?
Yes. Every Australian wedding needs two witnesses over 18 who can understand the ceremony. Bring your own, or ask us to provide professional witnesses.
How quickly can we elope?
The Notice of Intended Marriage must be lodged at least one month before your ceremony, so one month is the usual minimum. If you have a genuine reason such as work, travel or medical circumstances, a shortening of time may be granted and we can apply for you.
Can we elope on a weekend?
Yes. All packages are available Saturday and Sunday. Weekend pricing applies.
What's the difference between an elopement and a micro wedding?
Mostly the guest count. An elopement is usually the two of you with your witnesses. A micro wedding is a small ceremony with a handful of family or friends, typically up to 16 guests. Our Micro wedding package is built for exactly that.
Is an elopement legally the same as any other wedding?
Yes. Same Notice of Intended Marriage, same legal vows, same register and certificate, and your marriage is registered with Births, Deaths and Marriages Victoria in the same way.
Can we elope somewhere other than the chapel?
Yes. We marry couples in gardens, at home and in other places around Melbourne. Some locations need a permit, and a travel and setup fee applies. Tell us what you have in mind and we'll quote it.
Can we have a small celebration afterwards?
Of course. Many couples go on to lunch or dinner nearby after the ceremony. We're happy to suggest places, and our suppliers page lists people we trust.

“The ceremony was beautiful and genuine. We all laughed and cried. It was just what we wanted our wedding to be like, intimate and romantic, with just our immediate family present.”
